Plácido Domingo concert postponed due to rain
The scheduled concert for the Spanish tenor Plácido Domingo at 8PM at the Obelisk today has been cancelled due to poor weather conditions, and postponed until tomorrow, announced Culture Minister Hernán Lombardi.
“Tomorrow, at 8PM sharp, we shall have Plácido Domingo singing next to the Obelisk,” mentioned the Culture Minister, as he announced today’s cancellation due to poor weather conditions.
The concert was scheduled to be held outside today, along the 9 de Julio Avenue next to the Obelisk, after having being shunned away from the Colón Theatre due to various internal union issues, but now it may be pushed forward until tomorrow.
It was also announced late in the evening yesterday that the Colón Theatre’s Resident Orchestra and the Philharmonic Orchestra’s musicians would be accompanying Domingo exclusively during his performance at the Obelisk.
Technicians and workers began preparing the scenery and stage this morning, carefully placing the set in the heart of the grand avenue, alongside the Colón Theatre, accentuating the ongoing feud between ATE union workers and the City government.
