Tulsa Ballet dancer Sofia Menteguiaga, who joined the company at the start of this season, has been promoted to principal dancer.
Menteguiaga was informed of the promotion following her first performance in the company’s world premiere of "Romeo and Juliet" last week. Menteguiaga shared the role of Juliet with principal dancer Soo Youn Cho.
Menteguiaga’s promotion means Tulsa Ballet has two female principal dancers for the first time in years. The company has three male principals – Alfonso Martin, Ma Cong and Wang Yi.
